This has nothing to do with the Lightning, other than the fact that we are battling the lowly Islanders for Lottery Balls in the NHL Draft Sucktitude Lottery. The Islanders and Flyers fought 4 times the other night in a game that meant nothing for the Isle other than pride.

So with the loss tonight to the Montreal Canadiens, the Tampa Bay Lightning have clenched the record for the most overtime losses in one season. So who knew that while we were earning 1 point 18 times, that we would go down in NHL history as one of the worst! We have lost 5 out of 6 of our last games in OT. Now if this was the beginning of the season I would be semi-ok with this. But since we keep gaining points in OT we are now only third worst in the NHL. I know its a little [...]

Well we have done it again. The terrible, but higher ranked Atlanta Thrashers came into the St. Pete Times Forum and beat us in overtime. We have now lost 7 of our last 10 games, and four of them have been in overtime. We have lost more overtime games in our last 10 games than the New Jersey Devils and the Colorado Avalanche have combined all season! We have something like 17 overtime losses this season. Last night in the St. Pete Times Forum it was once again like the Stanley Cup run of 2004. The building was sold out, people were chanting, and the atmosphere was electric. There was just one small difference. Last night, the Forum was filled with a bunch of smelly Canadians, there to root on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Spring break, St. Patty’s day, and the fact that smelly people love driving 22 hours to watch mediocre teams play hockey, created a perfect storm that sold the building out for the first time in months, possibly all season.

As the post indicates, since we suck, I will show the few good things that came from last nights win over the Florida Panthers.
For starters, Ville Peltonen tried to fight Evgeny Artyukhin 4 seconds into last nights game.  I would imagine  he was trying to make a point, because after watching the video you can’t call this revenge, for the fact that Artyukhin was suspended 2 games for what the NHL deemed a low hit on Peltonen a few weeks ago. This one didn’t go good for the guy who is 7 inches shorter than Arty.

Now that I have gotten that off of my chest lets get down to what happened.  What happened is, that for the first time in my life, I got up and walked out of the St. Pete Times Forum before the hockey game was over. But if you watched that game, it was over 5 minutes into the 1st period. The Bolts wanted to make sure that they finished their series with the Carolina Hurricanes with a bang. The Lightning rallied from a 3 -1 defecit to tie up the game with less than a minute left against the St. Louis Blues last night. With the goalie pulled, and the extra attacker on, Mr. I am gonna be a stud, Steve Stamkos fired a goal home from the point to tie the game up and send it into overtime.  OT didnt last long as Ramo let the 1st or 2nd shot past to end the game 4-3.
