About Two Months Too Late

There must be something about the Calgary Flames that gets the Bolts all fired up, because that “high octane” offense everyone was talking about  at the beginning of the season showed up tonight in an 8 to 6 win over the Flames. With 32 shots on goal, and 60% powerplay total for the game, the bolts look like a team that are hungry for there spot in the playoffs. They just turned it on about two months too late.

With multiple goal games from Vinny Lecavalier, and Marty St. Louis the Bolts end the 7 game losing streak that they were on. Studs Steve Stamkos, Ryan Malone, Vinny Prospal, and even crusher Evgeny Artyukhin added goals to the board. Mark Recchi played like he was 25 again and contributed to the win with 5 assists.

The score might now show it, but Mike Mckenna played a hell of a game. Towards the end of the third, when Calgary had their goalie pulled, Mckenna turned away a pair of shots from Jarome Iginla that would have knotted the game up. Also good performances by Matt Smaby and Steve Eminger to pick up the slack of “wounded” defender  Marek Malik, who ended up leaving the game with an injury.  Maybe its an injury to his ego, because he could hear me screaming at him through my TV all the way from Tampa. It went a little something like this…

But seriously, the Bolts did a good job battling back from a deficit in the 2nd, to pull out a nice win on the road. Hopefully they can bring this home with them and do it to the Penguins. Another 8 goals would be GREAT!
