I Guess I’ll Take It…

The Lightning rallied from a 3 -1 defecit to tie up the game with less than a minute left against the St. Louis Blues last night. With the goalie pulled, and the extra attacker on, Mr. I am gonna be a stud, Steve Stamkos fired a goal home from the point to tie the game up and send it into overtime.  OT didnt last long as Ramo let the 1st or 2nd shot past to end the game 4-3.

But all was not a loss last night. There were a few bright spots in a lame loss. The fact that the Bolts lately have been able to rally while behind, and come back and score goals is a definite plus.  Shows that we are not just giving up anymore. Its a little too late but the effort is nice to see regardless.

Even though Karri Ramo saw 36 shots last night, i thought our defense played well. Matt Smaby is taking his role as the #1 defender to heart and I like it. With Paul Ranger and Andrej Meszaros out for the season, and Steve Emminger gone, Smaby is the physical big banger defense man that I love, and that we need.  He is starting to poke check well, doesn’t let people burn him into the zone, and will stand anyone up and fight for his team. LOVE IT! Another bright spot is little Cory Murphy. I think he was a great addition to our team. I am not going to go as far as saying he is the next Dan Boyle, but he has the ability to move the puck and shoot, which everyone else on the D has forgot they are allowed to do. Not to mention he had over 30 minutes of ice time.  And last but not least for the night, new guy Noah Welch. Big physical defender that loves to check, but needs to poke check a bit more. Like him alot, and hope he will turn into another Matt Smaby.

So with the loss, we move closer to that #1 pick in the draft, but still show a little life. We will see what happens tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes, with Mckenna in goal. Maybe we might be able to win one of the 6 games against them this year…would be nice..
