The Tampa Bay Lightning have officially entered contract talks to remove the “interim” tag and make Rick Tocchet the Head Coach of the Bolts. As a fairly observant fan of the game, I agree with the Lightning brass on this one. Rick did a good job with what was available to him last season, especially having to deal with excessive injuries and what we can only guess were terrible coaching strategies put in place by Barry “Steve Stamkos sucks” Melrose.
There are also a few trade rumors going around in the short time since the season has ended for the Bolts. www.prosportsdaily.com has a few of these.
….trade rumors continue to swirl around Vincent Lecavalier, the New York Post is suggesting Rangers coach John Tortorella will make a big push to acquire Martin St. Louis from Tampa Bay this summer.
I just want to say this again for the record. I think moving Vinny Lecavalier because of his massive contract would be the worst idea for the franchise. That would be like Washington trading Alexander Ovechkin, or Pittsburgh trading Sidney Crosby. It would alienate the fan base and do nothing good for attendance to games. All we can do is wait and see what happens. You never really know with this new ownership group.
