Today the Tampa Bay Lightning re-assigned Matt Lashoff and Mike Lundin to Norfolk of the AHL. Looks like the blue line is starting to shape up. These are the remaining D-Men fighting for the job.

1
Penguins
0-0-0
Hey, they’re the defending Stanley Cup champs. They get a free pass to the top of the rankings for at least a week.
2
Sharks
0-0-0
These are regular-season rankings, not playoff rankings, which explains why the Sharks are here and not in the trash bin.
3
Flyers
0-0-0
This is a good, big, deep, hungry team. All eyes are on goalie Ray Emery now.
4
Capitals
0-0-0
The Caps are grittier up front, but the defense and goaltending will have to prove themselves if Washington wants to get to the top of the heap.
5
Blackhawks
0-0-0
Can the youthful Hawks play with monster expectations? Why not?

The Lightning capped a generally encouraging preseason last night with a 5 to 1 drubbing of the Atlanta Thrashers. The Bolts finish off their 2009-2010 preseason with a record of 4 wins. 3 losses, with 1 win and 1 loss coming in overtime. The overtime loss came in a game against Dallas where none of our superstars were dressed. The game went to a shootout where Brad Richards tallied the game winner. Go figure!
After two years of hard to watch hockey, the Bolts seem to have put together a team that will compete in the quite strong Eastern Conference. Today [...]

Marty St Louis scored last night with 6 seconds left in OT to give the Lightning a thrilling OT victory vs the Edmonton Oilers.
The Lightning had to kill off two penalties in OT in order to get the victory. The Bolts PK unit, one of the teams real weak points last year, has been stellar thus far in the preseason.
Kurtis Foster (laser show) and Ryan Malone also scored for the Lightning. The Malone, Stammer and Marty line, the one I guaranteed was going to turn heads this season accounted for 6 points, 3 goals and 3 assists.
I was going to [...]

I’ve had season tickets to the Lightning for 5 years now. I can’t recall ever going to a preseason game. I might have been to a few and they were just so nondescript that I don’t have any recollection of it. Friday night though, in our first and only preseason home game, the Lightning and Thrashers put on quite a show.
3 seconds into the game, literally, Zenon Konopka and Josh Gratton dropped the gloves. Zenon is hard worker for the Lightning and has shown he is willing to fight to protect players, but he got his ass kicked in [...]

On Saturday, the Bolts started their 2009 -2010 training camp. Yesterday, my brother and I, made it out to catch some of their practice. Here are some observations we made.
YAY!!! Hockey is back!! ……sorry..I had to get it out
The practice that we saw included a scrimmage. The lines looked something like this…
Vinny Lecavalier, Alex Tanguay, and Carter Ashton. My brother and I think that they are auditioning the young first round pick on this line, while they also could be considering Steve Downie for this line as well. The young kid played well during the scrimmage, fighting for the [...]
