The Bolts Win, The Bolts Win

Actually, they win 2!!

Sorry for the delay on this post, but I was arrested for trying to get free hats off of the ice at Saturday nights game against the Hurricanes, and am just now getting out of lockup! I kid, I kid. Saturday nights game ended the way our previous few should have, with a 5 -2 win. We finished the game with 44 shots on net and a Ryan Malone hat trick. Steve Downie also put one in, as well as Paul Ranger, who despite sucking all night on defense, contributed to the win with a goal and an assist. Antero Niittymaki was in goal and played beautifully. Something that also needs to be noted is the tenacity and passion that Zenon Kenopka plays the game with. I love this guy and so should you. Who would have known that the third smallest guy on our team would be our enforcer, and the man you have to answer to when you mistreat his teammates? GO ZENON!!!

As for last night’s game, I am not in town, therefore I was unable to watch it. I did catch the highlights of it and this is what I saw.

1. The second line is ridiculous. They scored all three goals of the game. Marty St. Louis, Steven Stamkos, and Ryan Malone are all in the top 25 in goals scored so far. Ryan Malone has scored the SAME amount of goals as the great Alex Ovechkin, Dany Heatley, and Alexander Semin. Marty and Stamkos are both in the top 25 for total points as well, with Marty at #8. Enough said!

2. Niittymaki played wonderfully. The last goal of the game was scored after Niitty stuffed a breakaway chance from the panthers. He is a very capable backup for Smitty. I have all the faith in the world in Mike Smith and hope that the first few games were just what they looked like, close contests that could have gone either way.

3. Our first line is dismal. I’m not sure if I even want to go into this one yet. The first line has zero goals, and only 7 points. Those points are mainly because Rick Tocchett plays Vinny on other lines. So WTF is going on here!!

All in all I am a very happy man. We sit atop the Southeast Division, tied with the Capitals for first place. I know the season just started, but we could easily have been like the Wild, Panthers, or  Leafs and be sitting in a heap at the bottom of our division. LETS GET SOME BOYS!!!!
