Why Does it Smell So Bad in Here?

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

Question: Why does it smell so bad in here? Answer: It’s because the entire building is full of Montreal Canadiens fans! Well not entirely full, and not all Montreal Fans. I think I may need to share a few things before I continue with this post so you know where its coming from. My list of hated sports teams goes something like this: 1.) New England Patriots 2.) Philadelphia Flyers..ugh 3.)The Cowboys, Eagles, Yankees, and Red Socks all share this spot. 4.)Any Canadian hockey team (including this years Olympic team, but minus the Canucks) My list is built like this [...]

Even More Reason To Hate Team Canada

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Lightning, News, Opinion, Rumors | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

No Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St Louis or Steven Stamkos?   Are you serious? Team Canada unveiled its roster today much to the chagrin of the 200 or so Lightning fans on earth and all three of our guys were left off the roster.  It wasn’t even two weeks ago that I told my brother, if Team USA leaves Ryan Malone off the roster, I’m rooting for Team Canada.  I said that because there was some speculation that Steve Yzerman, after the disappointment of 2006′s team, that they were going to try and pair up guys who played on the same [...]

Lightning Move Within 1 Point of 8th Seed

AUTHOR: | IN: Lightning, News, Opinion | COMMENTS: None Yet

After enduring a losing streak that threatened to push us out of playoff contention, with a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins last night, the Lightning have now reeled off four wins in their last 5 games.  Sometimes all that is needed is a good home stand to cure all your teams woes. We have been bashing Alex Tanguay all year on this site, but he came up with a big goal in Saturday nights win over the Atlanta Thrashers, and scored a big goal last night in the win. Kurtis Foster had 2 assists, Vinny 4 had an assist, [...]

Lightning Play By Play…Sort Of!

AUTHOR: | IN: Lightning, News, Opinion, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

During Wednesday night’s hockey game, I was unable to attend because I was attending the City of Palms Basketball Tourney in Ft Myers Fl. This tournament is the premier high school basketball tournament in America, and I attend every year. My brother went to the game of course, and we started chatting by Blackberry Messenger, as we always do about the game if one of us can’t make it. We decided to put that entire conversation up as little different style post. You can get a good feel for the game even through reading this back and forth dialogue between [...]

Bolts Break Out Of Slump

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

I didn’t get a chance to watch the Blues-Lightning game Friday because of a holiday party that I attended, but the Bolts came up with a big win and a lot of goals to boot. It seems like the kind of game that can break a team out a deep slump, both in the losing column and in the scoring column. The game featured goals but Martin St Louis, Steven Stamkos (2), Kurtis Foster and Jeff Halpern (2). The Bolts didn’t particularly shoot a ton of shots (24) to the Blue 26, but Chris Mason obviously had a bad night, [...]

Lightning Shutout Again, Lose 6th Straight

AUTHOR: | IN: Lightning, News, Opinion | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Lightning were shutout on the road by the Detroit Red Wings last night, 3-0.  It was the 6th straight loss for the Bolts, and their 10th loss in the last 11 games.  In that stretch we have been outscored 36 to 17 and been shutout 4 times. I happened to think we played quite well for the first two periods last night, giving up a goal at the 8:24 mark to ex-Bolt (this season) Drew Miller.  We outshot the Wings 30 to 22 for the game, but as in most of our games lately, we were unable to get [...]

The Lightning Love To Drop The Gloves

AUTHOR: | IN: Lightning, Off Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just as I promised to get up the goals that the Lightning score from most games, I am also going to try and give you guys the pleasure of watching our brawlers drop the gloves.  Any regular reader of this site knows that me and my brother love the tough nature this team has displayed thusfar, and with that toughness comes the need to beat down opposing teams occasionally. These 3 fights were from the game vs the Edmonton Oilers last week.  Enjoy. You’re going to have to double click on the first and last fights here, because I can’t [...]

Vinny Breaks Out, Bolts Still Lose

AUTHOR: | IN: Lightning, Opinion, Rumors, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Sensing a need to shake up the lines last night, Rich Tochett made some big changes to the offensive lines for the game. “Maybe this will shock a lot of people, I don’t now. Honestly, I don’t care,” Tocchet said. ”We have to get this thing straightened out and it’s on the coaches and on the players right now. We’re eight of nine. We lose because teams are better than us, you can live with that. But I think there are some games we were outplaying a team and for whatever reason we just went the other way. It’s mind-boggling and [...]
