Lightning Get Waxed In Boston
I had one bday wish on Wednesday, and that was for the Lightning to go to Boston, and pick up a much needed victory to avoid a 3 game losing streak. The boys failed my only bday wish on getting worked 4-1.
Mike Smith was not awful, letting in 4 shots out of 39, but he continues to be the 2nd best goalie we have on the team. I have been waiting all year for him to regain his spot atop the depth chart at G, but just like the Lightning, he can’t put anything consistent together between the pipes. The Lightning have not put together a streak of more than 2 wins all season, even though we currently sit two games above .500.
The only goal of the game was scored by Jeff Halpern, who continues to impress when sorrounded by guys who belong on a first or second NHL line.
Matt Smaby, who has been frustrated all year by his injuries and his not dressing for any games, finally suited up on and played just over 11 minutes of ice time.
We go to NJ tonight and must at least pick up a point, to avoid our worst skid of the season.
Below is a video of a fight from a very chippy game on Monday night where we got shutout by the Avalanche. ZENON!!!!!!!
