Steven Stamkos was named October’s Number One Star for the entire NHL. But along with Martin St. Louis, it ended up being a two-man race for November’s Bolts By The Bay Lightning Player of the Month Award.
In the end, Stamkos’ numbers would push him to win the honors for the month just completed.
In 15 November contests, Stamkos picked up 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points, with a -2 rating in the plus / minus column.
He recorded 56 shots on goal, seven power play goals, and two game-winners.
Stamkos was held without a point in just three of the 15 games.
Included in Stamkos’ exploits were six multi-point contests, one hat trick in a four-point effort against the Philadelphia Flyers, and a three-point outing against the New York Rangers.
St. Louis wasn’t far off of Stamkos’ production.
In 15 games during the month of November, the diminutive 35-year-old winger potted five goals and 14 assists for 19 points, and a -3 rating.
He recorded 52 shots on goal, one power play goal, and one game-winning goal.
St. Louis had five multi-point games, including a spectacular five assist night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
He failed to register a point in only four of the 15 Lightning contests.
Both players said goodbye to November by playing key roles in the Bolts’ come-from-behind victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs last night.
St. Louis netted two goals in regulation, including the marker that tied the game with just 8.7 seconds left and sent the contest to overtime. Stamkos picked up an assist on that tying goal for his only point of the game.
The Tampa Bay players will all get a start on the December Bolts By The Bay Player of the Month Award in Boston tomorrow night when they take on the Bruins. Opening puck drop will be 7:00 PM EST.
