Haircuts generally aren’t “news”, but this is the exception. The hockey world’s best kept twitter secret, Nate Thompson, has been communicating with fans for a while now. His tweets in include fun things, like new nicknames, or take a slightly more serious note. Today on his twitter page, Thompson announced he was going to shave his head for the month of April to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.
As you can see, like most hockey players, Thompson has what we like to “flow.” The slicked-back locks may even be considered “mad flow” by some (including myself). Cutting it all of certainly won’t be an easy task, and keeping his head shaved for all of April will be an adjustment for everyone involved. In the end, its a very small price to pay if he can help even one child.
That’s not all Thompson is doing to help the cause. He will also be walking in the Fashion Funds the Cure fashion show to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation tonight. Here is some more information for those who want to attend (and photos of Thompson strutting his stuff would be greatly appreciated).
In the land of #DanEllisProblems, it’s nice to see stand-up guys giving back. Particularly when that stand-up guy is a role player who gets very little attention for the things he does to help others. Bravo, Nate.
