Instead of playoff beards this playoff season, it’d looking like the Bolts are going to be sporting waxed domes. To raise money, awareness, and support for pediatric cancer, several members of the Tampa Bay Lightning shaved their heads yesterday.
This had been panned for a while, but the boys finally took the plunge. All of our condolences go to the equipment managers who now have to deal with those helmets post-game. Eck.
The players who chopped it all off for charity are Vinny Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis, Teddy Purcell, Nate Thompson, Victor Hedman, Ryan Malone, and Mike Smith. The event was part of the 2nd annual Bright House Networks Cut for a Cure. It will raise money for he Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at All Children’s Hospital.
To donate to each individual player’s goal, money is being accepted until May 6th at http://www.fastercure.org/events/cutforacure.htm. You can donate to each individual player or the team goal. The event raised $165,000 toward the $230,000 goal. Every little bit helps!
