Apologies for the late recap. There was a little national security snafu last night that delayed our operations just a tad.
Before thousands danced on Osama bin Laden’s grave outside the White House, nearly 19,000 saw their home team, the Caps, fall into a 2-0 hole at the hands of the Lightning. Tampa Bay Has played a simple game, capitalizing on chances and making the Caps pay. Their patience, coupled with Roloson’s lights-out play, has powered them to 5 game winning streak heading home.
In the last series, home was where the Lightning ran into some trouble. They lost their home games with the Penguins 2-1, and that was a team that doesn’t have the offensive capabilities that the Caps have. Tomorrow night, they are going to see the best the Caps have to offer. The Bolts must be willing and able to match that intensity and effort.
Another concern for the Bolts is their winning streak. Yes, it is a concern. Tampa has been a very streaky team this season, and they have gone 5 games without a loss. This would imply they are due for a losing streak, but they can’t afford to give one up in the playoffs and survive. They have to be aware of this so there is no letdown.
Anyone who had doubts about Roloson’s ability to carry this team is team is biting their tongue. He is close to the sole reason the Lightning are in the position they are in right now. Their offense has been struggling and there have been defensive lapses, but Roloson has answered the bell every time. His continued excellent play will be the reason the Lightning will win this series.
The Bolts can’t rest. The second they let up, the Caps will pounce. They will have to play these next two games like road games and not let their home-ice lull creep up on them.
Six down, ten to go.
