Watch Him As He Goes...

Now, you better believe the Tampa Bay Lightning are glad to hear that he’s leaving the crease. Ozzie was a perfect 17-0-0 against the Bolts, sporting a 1.87 Goals Against Average and a .932 Save Percentage! That’s the most wins without a loss against any team by any active goal-tender; well, inactive now, but up until the other day… WOW!!!

Will this number soon be hanging from the rafters at the Joe?

No doubt that the Lightning could probably have bested the Red Wing back-up at some point in the next year or two had he returned, but now that won’t happen will it? That’s not such a bad thing to let go, if you’re a Tampa fan. The only thing to worry about now, with regards to the Wings, is Jimmy Howard. And, with Osgood accepting a job working as an assistant goalie coach, should we expect the “magic” to pass on as well? Probably not… Tampa Bay has a pretty great offense on hand for at least the next few years.

So, after a Hall-of-Fame caliber career what did Osgood say of the mention during Tuesday’s conference call? “It means a lot to me. It would mean the world to me to get into the Hall of Fame. Hopefully one day it happens.”

Said Red Wing GM Ken Holland on the same call, “any time you’re in the top 10 of anything that’s been around almost a hundred years (like the NHL), it’s pretty special.”

Great career, great story; congratulations Ozzie, and best of luck.
