My name is Lora, and I’m introducing myself as the new Bolts by the Bay writer. I’ve always had a love for writing, which came to light recently. As well as a love for hockey. Combine the two, and we have something amazing.
I became a fan of hockey, and more specifically, the Tampa Bay Lightning over 8 years ago, when I met my boyfriend (now husband). He’s a Chicago Blackhawks fan, but I wanted my ‘own’ team. Our household gets interesting during the NHL season, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve been following the Lightning as best as I can since I was 16, and I’m so passionate about the Lightning that I am hoping I can express that through writing for Bolts by the Bay.
I live in the state of Iowa, which doesn’t give me much opportunity to see a NHL game in person or on the TV. It’s not easy being a Bolts fan in Iowa. There really aren’t many NHL fans here to begin with. With that being said, I’ve never been fortunate enough to attend a Lightning game, or a NHL game. Although someday in the near future, I am hoping to get lucky enough to see a Blackhawks VS Lightning game.
A few of my favorite Lightning things…
My favorite Lightning moment would most definitely have to be when they won the Stanley Cup in 2004. I just started following them the beginning of the 2003-2004 season, so it was amazing to follow them through such an awesome journey. That game 7 was such a nail biter, and to this day I can still recall the ending. I have faith that we can do it all over again.
Naturally, Martin St. Louis is my favorite player. His story is so inspiring, and he’s an outstanding player to boot. Everyone said he’d never make it, and he proved them wrong. I dread the day that he retires as a Lightning player.
The first and only Lightning jersey I’ve ever owned is of course Martin St. Louis. That would have to be one of my most prized Lightning possessions, other than a few other Lightning items here and there. Someday my collection will contain more and better items.
I look forward to bringing more Lightning articles to the table, and I can’t wait to get started.
Please keep reading Bolts by the Bay for more, or if you enjoy writing and hockey; feel free to apply. Bolts by the Bay is still looking for more writers.
