Lightning Make Cuts To 27

Vice President and General Manager, Steve Yzerman, announced the Lightning made 27 cuts today, which leaves 26 players remaining.

Those 26 players will practice Monday morning before heading to Quebec.

Now the Lightning have the difficult part left. They must cut at least four more players before season opener to reach the maximum of 23. The players left that will be wrestling for roster spots are: Tom Pyatt, Brett Connolly, Dana Tyrell, Mattias Ritola, & Blair Jones.

All of the players were assigned to the Norfolk Admirals, except Daniel Milan, who was assigned to his junior team, Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL.

Mike Angelidis, JT Wyman, Trevor Smith, Alex Picard, Michel Ouellet, Mike Vernace, and Richard Petiot were placed on waivers. They will report to the Norfolk Admirals, if they pass the waivers and aren’t claimed by another team.

The players who do not require waivers and will also report to the Admirals are: Carter Ashton, Richard Panik, James Wright, Tyler Johnson, Radko Gudas,  Mark Barberio, Alex Hutchings, Dustin Tokarski, Jaroslav Janus, and Pat Nagle.

Cory Conacher, Matt Fornataro, Kevin Quick, and Jeff Dimmen will report to Norfolk Admirals on Monday.

Philip-Michael Devos, Eric Neilson, Gabriel Desjardins, Ondrej Palat, and Pierre-Cedric Labrie were assigned to Admirals’ training camp.
