Referee Escapes The Shanaban

In a match up between The Philadelphia Flyers and The Washington Capitals an incident occurred with approximately six minutes and forty-eight seconds left in the third period.

Referee Stephen Walkom checks  Kimmo Timonen.

As you can clearly see the Referee Stephen Walkom jumps in the air and braces for impact, he did not use only the point of his elbow, but his whole body.

These considerations were taken into effect :

  • Referee Stephen Walkom has no prior violations.
  • The incident appears to be accidental, and he braces his entire body for impact.
  • No injuries occurred as a result of the hit.
  • No Shanaban will be issued, the Shanahammer will not come down on this incident.

Yes this was a joking article, however, this actually did happen!!
We would like to apologize if we offended anyone, as NHL player abuse is not a joking matter. Referees are sometimes not as innocent as they look.
If you see a referee in a park, do not let your children pet them, and please, DO NOT try to feed them.
