After going goalless in the last 2 tilts, Steven Stamkos found his scoring touch and notched his 49th and 50th goals of the season during Tampa Bay’s 6-1 rout of the Boston Bruins. Much like the first time he scored 50 in a season, Stamkos achieved the mark at home at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Not only did Stamkos continue to break further away from the rest of the pack in the goal scoring race but he has also joined an elite club of NHL scorers. Stamkos is the sixth player to twice tally 50 goals in a season before turning 23. He now joins the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Joe Nieuwendyk, Mike Bossy, and Alex Ovechkin.
In this season of ups and downs, there has been one solid constant, Steven Stamkos, in both his goal scoring ability and leadership. If the team is able to pull off what some believe to be the impossible, make the playoffs, it will be behind the Stamkos One-Timer and his leadership. Congratulations Steven Stamkos! Best of luck and continued success to you! Go Bolts!
