In a charity game benefiting the Tony Rolon Hockey Scholarship Fund, The Tampa Bay Lightning alumni will be playing against Dunedin Tarpon Countryside High School on Saturday, May 12th at The Tampa Bay Skating Academy in Oldsmar.
Dave Andreychuk, Brian Bradley, Chris Dingman, Doug Crossman, and John Tucker will be representing The Lightning alumni. They, along with Chief Operating Officer Steve Griggs, video coach Nigel Kirwan, and assistant equipment manager Clay Roffin will be participating. There will be an autograph session and player photo opportunities from 3-4, puck drop is at 4:15.
The cost of the game for adults is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. For children 14 and younger the cost is $3 in advance and $4 at the door. Children five years of age and younger are free. You can purchase tickets in advance online at www.tonyrolonhockeyfund.org.
Those attending will have the opportunity to bid on a silent auction with items such as game used sticks and Lightning signed memorabilia. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction benefit the Tony Rolon Hockey Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for children to participate in youth ice hockey programs. The fund is associated with the ministry of the St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Clearwater.
The Tony Rolon Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 in memory of Tony Rolon, who worked for the St. Petersburg Police Department until his retirement in 2008. After his retirement from the police force, he was very involved in youth hockey, he had a passion for mentoring children involved with the sport.
