Tampa Bay's Goaltending Woes

With the Lightning having two first round

draft picks Tampa Bay and Steve Yzerman

with his staff have alot of options on their

plate on draft day in Pittsburg.

If you follow the Lightning you know that

the Bolts have goaltender issues that

have not been solved yet. Do they trade

a pick and a superstar skater for a starting

NHL goalie. Garon has one more year

under his contract but he is a solid backup

goalie that the Bolts can rely on. Garon

is not a starter by any means last season

proved that.

Don’t get me wrong Dustin Tokarski

is an outstanding goaile who will

land a starting job in the NHL within

the near future. Janus is a step behind

Dustin however Jaroslav has the better

Either way this trade or free agency this issue

is not going to go away. The Luongo option

is out of the equation he is way to

expensive. There has been reports

that Tampa Bay brass has been

looking at Kings back up

netminder Bernie. If you look

at the free agent market this year

for tenders its a slim market.

The names that stick out in

my mind are Josh Harding from Minnesota

and Andrew Raycroft from Dallas. Cap

space and contract offers

from other teams will play in Tampa’s

goalie drama.

Do they trade  one of their 1st round picks and

a superstar skater to fix these goalie problems

come draft day from a team that lacks defense

or  scoring  but has deep depth in the goaltender

position. Or do the Lightning draft Malcolm Subban?

Subban is a top notch goaltender but is not ready

for the pro game yet. Maybe in a couple years but

Tampa needs a quick fix and they need it now.

I don’t have a crystal ball and don’t have the

brain of Steve Yzerman. I think Tampa will

trade on draft day my guess is Tampa will

trade away a 1st round pick and a forward.
