It’s hard to believe that there has been hockey here in Tampa Bay for 20 years already. TWENTY YEARS!!!! I was fourteen. (Oh, hush.) So much has happened in the past twenty years. Technology alone with cell phones and the internet has been mind blowing, but the best invention in my mind was the mixture of pucks and palm trees. Thank you, Phil Esposito!
The Tampa Bay Lightning is asking fans to log on to 20YearsOfThunder.com and vote for their favorite moments in the franchise’s history. It’s part of how they are allowing us, the Thunder, to be part of the 20 Years Of Thunder. Once logged on to the site, fans can take a walk through time and history, as there is an interactive timeline of the Lightning’s life, starting when the team was founded in 1990.
“We would like to invite all Lightning fans to help us decide the top moments in franchise history,” said Lightning vice president of brand management Lynn Wittenburg. “As in everything we do, we recognize that our great fans and season ticket members are the thunder behind the Lightning so we are asking each of them to share their favorite moments and milestones. We are excited to use new technology to bring this new web experience to our fans.”
This timeline website is nothing like we’ve seen before. It’s an experience of new technology, built in HTML5 that allows fans to scroll through the top moments in franchise history. The format also allows users to view the content and fully utilize the site on tablet and mobile devices, as well as most browsers.
Thuzi LLC., who is a is a Facebook Preferred Developer Consultant (PDC) as well as a full service social media agency specializing in: social monetization strategies, event activation, Social by Design custom Facebook applications, integrated advertising via the Facebook Ads API and a best in class platform for Facebook automation and insight tools, has teamed up with the Lightning once again for this historic timeline experience. They have been working with the Lightning for years, and I look forward to checking this website out for myself. (No, I haven’t yet. But I plan to as soon as I’m done posting this up!)
But hurry!! The voting will end on August 15th. The moments that are picked by the fans will be recognized throughout the season. When the voting for favorite moments ends, similar voting for the Lightning’s top players in franchise history will begin.
Just another day in hockey paradise!
