Ex-Bolt Michael McBain Out On Bail??

Michael Brian McBain, 35, is about the lowest form of scum that you can get. He faces NINE, count them… 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 felony counts for the sexual abuse of his step daughter. McBain was drafted by The Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2nd round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He played 64 games with the team from 97-99. Afterwards he stepped down to the ECHL and played 5 years with the Las Vegas Wranglers. In the 2008-2009 season he retired and joined the team as an assistant coach.

The Las Vegas Police report details the case over 6 pages. It alleges that about three years after he married the victim’s mother the abuse began. The girl planned to keep the abuse a secret until she was 18 years of age and able to move out of the home, in fear that it would devastate her mother. Reports say that in May she finally confessed to her mother the abuse that she had endured since 2008. When the mother confronted McBain, he went to visit his brother in Oregon. There he tried to kill himself by overdosing on pills. (I would say that it’s too bad he didn’t succeed, but he needs to live with what he did. Death would be to easy for him.) The mother visited him several times in the hospital, where he confessed to her that he had in fact been abusing the girl since 2008, including a rape during a trip to Europe in 2010. He wrote the victim an apology letter, (gee, what a gentleman), that the police now have to use as evidence. They also have an email that was sent between McBain and the mother about the about the abuse.

McBain turned himself into police on July 5 at the Clark County Detention Center. He faces 2 counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, one count of sexual assault with a minor under the age of 14, 4 counts of sexual assault with a minor under the age of 16, and 2 counts of open or gross lewdness.

As a coach, he noticed the victim had a crush on a certain Wranglers player, Jason Krischuk. McBain created a false email address pretending to be Krischuk and contacted the girl. He allegedly emailed, texted, sent lewd photos, and talked about their sexual encounters all while pretending to be Krischuk. The report even says that he left as much as $400 for her for sending nude photos of herself to the fake email address. Krischuk said that he was never in contact with the girl nor did he have any conversations with her.

A preliminary court hearing was scheduled for today (Wednesday) but was continued to October 2nd.

The jerk is free on $75,000 bail. I hope he enjoys his freedom. I hope that everyone reads the papers and blogs and news reports and sees what he did and treats him like the piece of crap that he is.

"McBain’s Lawyer, Bob Draskovich, says that his client hopes to avoid trial to spare the victim any more hurt.“He’s seeking to resolve this case and he has no interest in putting his stepdaughter or family through the crucible of a prosecution,”Draskovich said."

Doncha think being out on bail will cause the victim more hurt?? He already tried to kill himself once, the jerk will try to do it again. He’s out on bail under ‘intensive watch’.

"The Las Vegas Wranglers released the following statement:“We are saddened to hear about today’s news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim in this matter, and we hope for a swift and decisive resolution.”"

I don’t normally write negative reports, unless it’s something I’ve seen on a not-so-serious note that I just have to rip apart and give my sarcastic comments about. Those articles either piss people off or they love them. (I like to stir the pot a bit at times.) But I felt I needed to bring attention to this ex-Lightning, who isn’t worthy of that title, to bring dishonor upon him and let people here in the Tampa Bay area who might remember him see just what a scumbag he really is.
