As Sun Sports continues to air classic Lightning games to commemorate the organization’s 20th Anniversary, they have an awesome one lined up to treat us with this Thursday. At 8 p.m. tune in for the game where Dave Andreychuk made his record setting power play goal.
On November 25, 2002, the Lightning faced off against the San Jose Sharks. About half way through the first period, San Jose’s Mark Smith received a hooking penalty, giving the Bolts a power play. With a feed from Brad Richards, Dave made the power play goal. It was his 250th, which set an NHL record for the most power play goals. The Lightning won that game 4-2.
Dave Andreychuk retired with 274 power play goals, a record that still stands today.
