With the Winter Classic officially canceled, this lockout is getting more and more depressing. I do predict, and I pray that I’m wrong, that we won’t see hockey until the Fall of 2013. That’s if we’re still alive and the world is still in tact. It seems I’ve been in lockout mode myself, just been dealing with a nasty cold for almost an entire month now. Perhaps I should invite Bettman over for dinner and give him a nice, germ-infested hug? Nah, then he wouldn’t be able to continue the pointless meetings.
Bill Daly met one-on-one with NHLPA Special Counsel Steve Fehr for several hours on Saturday. The CBA talks resumed today for seven hours. Seven hours and we’ve had no progress. (Atleast that we’re being told of.) They are, however, scheduled to meet again tomorrow. My optimism level is on a low right now, perhaps it’s just the Nyquill. My second prediction is that the CBA will be signed and the games set to resume on December 20th…. darn Mayan Calendar!!!! Hopefully I’m wrong and I will have some wonderful news to report soon. Until then, keep your head up. There’s always the AHL, ECHL, and college hockey. We’re going to see the University of Florida Gators (ick) VS the University of South Florida Bulls (Go Bulls) at the Tampa Bay Times Forum this Sunday. Those leagues need your support too, weather the lockout is in place or not!
