It’s official: No Downie, No All-Star Weekend

The hopes of many a Downie fan were crushed today, when the league announced the cancellation of games through December 14, and the All-Star Weekend. We were looking so forward to seeing our honey badger take the ice again, even if he is in a different uniform. Happy Thanksgiving. You can tell that hockey is a primarily Canadian sport, eh?

Ok, I apologize for that last statement. Nothing against Canadians. This is just the kind of news to ruin a good Thanksgiving weekend, and they don’t celebrate our Thanksgiving. They have their own. No ridiculously hard Chara slapshot (Though this isn’t all bad, is it?) No Kaner flowing down the ice with a Superman cape on, no Stamkos stealing the show.

What really stinks is the season ticket member paper tickets are a thing of the past, we now have game debit cards. Who did I get on mine? Brian Bradley. I took that as a good sign. Anyone who knows me, knows that he is my all time favorite NHLer. Brian, looks like you’ll have to stay tucked inside my wallet and hopefully I’ll get you again next year.

So just to re-cap: No NHL games through December 14th. Canceled. Done. No All-Star Weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!
