Still Waiting…

The NHLPA (National Hockey League Player’s Association) still needs to ratify the new CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) before they can release the schedules. The polls have been open for the union to vote via website since 8pm on January 10th, and closed this morning at 8am. With the votes being done electronically, we thought that the results would be out by now.

Here it is 4:00pm and we are still waiting. Everyone says that it will pass, not to worry. However, it’s not over until it’s over! Just announce it already, please.

The schedule will be released ‘instantaneously’ after the results are released. Once it’s ratified and signed, teams are able to open training camp on Sunday. The Tampa Bay Lightning are planning on opening training camp at the Tampa Bay Times Forum with the 2013 Fan Fest, instead of holding it at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum like they usually do. The team will them go to Estero, Florida so they can have team building away from Tampa.

About 10am the NHLPA released the following on their Twitter:

Per agreement with the NHL, we will announce results of player vote later today. Discussions to finalize the MOU continue this morning.

Stay tuned to Bolts By The Bay for breaking news when the results are released. The schedule will be posted as well.
