The Tampa Bay Lightning are welcoming fans back to the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Sunday. They will be kicking off training camp and the 20th Anniversary Season with Fan Fest. Fans are excited to see Fan Fest make a return after it’s absence last year. They did introduce the players briefly prior to a concert by The Steve Miller Band, however, it wasn’t the same.
Doors open at 9am. Fans are to park in the East or West forum lots and enter through the main entrance. Fan Fest is free and open to the public. From 10am-11am the players will be signing autographs, then they will go to the locker room to prepare for the first training camp session. From 11-12:30 Lightning coaches, management, and broadcasters will provide commentary as the players get ready. At 12:30 Coach Boucher will lead the team into it’s first official practice of the season. The Lightning Girls will be on hand, and that pesky Thunderbug will be harassing fans.
Of course this is all pending ratification to the new CBA by the NHLPA, which is expected to be signed and a done deal tomorrow morning. There will be contests throughout the day. Food and drink vendors will be open, as well as merchandise stores which will have select merchandise at 50% off. They will be hosting a warehouse sale with game used gear, proceeds going to community hockey. Thunderbug will be taking pictures with kids and there will be a kid zone, for those who are members of the free kids club.
Season Ticket Members will get bonuses for wearing their STM jerseys. They will be given passes to the club level for exclusive autographs. They will also get free parking. Everyone will have their first opportunity to purchase single game tickets.
