Around Tampa: A Look At What's Happening In Other Tampa Sports

Let’s take a look at what’s happening around the other sports in Tampa.

First off all I’d like to congratulate the Jr. Bulls hockey team on their state championship win in Daytona!

The Buccaneers

Right now the big story is the Combine and Free Agency. Will the Bucs reach out deep in their salary cap on free agency? Who will they sign? Who will they not welcome back? Speculation from several blogs is E.J. Biggers, as the team had the worst pass defense in the league last season. To replace him as cornerback, Sean Smith would be a good option. Another name being thrown around is Ronde Barber. Yet again they are wondering if he should retire or if he should give it another year. The same question came up last spring, and he went his 16th season with 4 interceptions and 71 tackles. That’s not too shabby. I wouldn’t mind seeing #20 on the field for another year. The Rays

The Rays are back in full swing, sweating it up at Spring Training. Luke Scott and Sam Fuld are dealing with mild ham string issues. They dropped their last game 5-1 against the Red Sox, however, if Spring training is any indication of how the season is going to go I’ll be happy. They have only lost four of twelve games played so far. Catch all of the latest Rays news on the FanSided blog Rays Colored Glasses.
