Ryan Malone Placed on Injured Reserve

Just when things are starting to look up for the Tampa Bay Lightning, they are dealt with a rather unfortunate blow. As per Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune, Ryan Malone is set to be placed on Injured Reserve.

This means that Malone will miss a minimum of 7 days. At this time, the Tampa Bay Lightning have no plans to make a call up from the Syracuse Crunch.

This could not come at a more inopportune time. The Tampa Bay Lightning have finally found a way to put 2 wins together, with their defeat of Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday and the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, and now they head on the road again the next three games sans the Lightning left winger.

Malone has already been plagued by an injury once this season. Malone returned to the Lightning line up on March 7th against the Winnipeg jets after being sidelined with a Lower Body Injured since February 10th.

This time, he is sidelined with an Upper Body Injury, presumably to his shoulder. The injury occurred during the Lightning’s faceoff with the Flyers on Monday when Malone was plowed down by center Zac Rinaldo.

In case you missed the game, here is the shot on Malone by Rinaldo.

Bugsy has scored 5 goals and garnered 2 assists in the 16 games he has played so far this season for a total of 7 points.

We here at Bolts by the Bay wish Bugsy a speedy recovery, and we certainly hope he doesn’t miss too much time off of the ice.

What did you think of Rinaldo’s hit to Malone? Did it look like a legit hit, or is a Shanaban in order here? Let us know how you feel in the comments below.
