Around the Twitterverse: Tweets of the Week from Around the Bolts Nation

Welcome to Week 3 of Around the Twitterverse; your one stop for all the latest Lightning news and updates that 140 characters can dish out!

This has certainly been a tough week for those of us in the Bolts Nation. A majority of fans in the Bolts Nation are still in shock after the Tampa Bay Lightning announced yesterday their intention to buyout the contract of long-time Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier.

As many of you know, Lecavalier has spent the entirety of his NHL career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was drafted 1st overall by the Lightning in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Vinny has scored 383 goals and 491 assists for a grand total of 874 points, all in a Lightning jersey.

In addition to his many contributions on the ice, the captain has made enormous contributions to the Tampa Bay community off the ice as well. He founded the Vincent Lecavalier Foundation, which made a $3 million dollar pledge to All Children’s Hospital allowing for the creation of the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at All Children’s Hospital.

This week, we will honor the captain for everything that he has given to the Tampa Bay community, both on and off the ice. Here…is to the captain.

I am sure many teams share this sentiment.

Many Lightning fans have shared the same sentiment today.

There are not many teams that can say this about their captain.

Here are some reactions from some of us here at Bolts By The Bay.

Last, but definitely not least, we hear from the Captain himself.

This will certainly not be the last time that we see Vincent Lecavalier on the ice at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Unfortuately, next time it will be in someone else’s jersey.

Even though he won’t be wearing Lightning blue anymore, his contributions to the Tampa Bay Lightning and our community will continue on.

No matter where Vincent Lecavalier ends up, we here in Tampa Bay will always remember him as our captain.
