2013 NHL Draft: Breaking It Down for the Tampa Bay Lightning
#154 overall – Henri Ikonen, Left Wing, Kingston Frontenacs – Ontario Hockey League
The 6’ tall, 198 pound left winger played 61 games with the Kingston Frontenacs last season. In that time, he scored 22 goals and 29 assists for a total of 51 points.
Ikonen led Kingston in points, and came in second in assists.
In the post season, he played another four games with the Frontenacs adding 1 more goal to his totals.
The 19 year old Savonlinna, Finland native was tied for first on the Frontenacs in power play goals, of which he had 5.
Ikonen has a lot of potential to make an impact in the NHL.
He is tremendous on the power play; something that the Lightning struggled greatly with last season. He is also skilled in one-on-one situations with the goaltender. On a breakaway or in a shootout, he is someone who would be my first choice to go out on the ice and put one in the back of the net.
