Former Tampa Bay Lightning Captain Vincent Lecavalier Headed to the Philadelphia Flyers

After longtime Lightning center, and captain, Vincent Lecavalier was bought out by the Tampa Bay Lightning last week, a flurry of interest from no fewer than a dozen NHL teams started to surface.

However, it looks like the captain has found a new home; the Philadelphia Flyers.

Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that Lecavalier has just inked a contract with the Flyers for 5 years at $4.5 million per year. This rounds out to about $22.5 million.

Just as he had with the Lightning, Vinny has a no-movement clause in his contract; this according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.

Lecavalier has been with the Lightning for all 14 seasons in his NHL career, playing 1037 games in Lightning blue, and scoring 383 goals and 491 assists for a total of 874 points.

He has also done a lot of work within the Tampa Bay community, including the creation of the Vincent Lecavalier Foundation which is responsible for the pledge that allowed the creation of the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer Center at All Children’s Hospital.

While he may not be in Lightning blue anymore, we here at Bolts by the Bay wish our Captain the best of luck as he begins his journey with the Philadelphia Flyers. You may be a Flyer now, but you will always be a Bolt in our hearts.
