So what if you go on vacation for a year, come back home, and your house isn’t there anymore? That could be happening to 39 year-old Tim Thomas.Confirmed reports are that his agent has been talking to the Panthers and a couple of other teams. Really? Is it worth having a 39 year-old guy on your team who took a leave of absence from the sport for a year?
I suppose if you’re looking for a short-term tutor to work with your younger goalies that makes sense. Maybe it just doesn’t sit well with me that the guy checks out for a season. To me, that speaks to his character and commitment to the game.
Nothing against Tim Thomas personally; it just rubs me the wrong way. And from what I understand of the Bruins locker room and front office, it got under their skin more than a little bit.
Hey, it all worked out for Tuukka Rask though!
What do you think about Tim Thomas? We all know he’s a Stanley Cup champion, a Conn Smythe winner and, in his day, a top tier goaltender. Do you believe that he’ll have a home to go to for the 2013-14 season? And if he does, what does he have left to offer?
