The Captain Departs

One of the biggest blows to fans in the Bolts Nation was the departure of captain Vincent Lecavalier.

This is quite possibly one of the sorest subjects you can discuss with a Lightning fan.

I have watched as this topic has gone as far as to tear friendships apart. Half of the fans will tell you that they have seen this move coming for a long time. Others will tell you that they were completely blindsided by Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman’s tough decision.

In any case, when you remove someone whose name has become as synonymous with the Lightning as peanut butter has to jelly, there is bound to be some turbulence.

It will be interesting to see how Vinny is received when he heads back into the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Wednesday, November 27th, this time not in a Lightning jersey, but in Flyer orange.
