Tampa Bay Lightning recall forward J.T. Brown and defenseman Dmitry Korobov from Syracuse Crunch

The Tampa Bay Lightning recall forward J.T. Brown and defenseman Dmitry Korobov from the Syracuse Crunch (American Hockey League) this morning, as announced by general manager Steve Yzerman.

Brown, 23, comes with a plus-5 rating after 13 games with the Crunch – recording four goals and 10 points.  He was signed as a free agent on March 28, 2012 by the Lightning, and has played in five career NHL games, all in the 2011-12 season for the Bolts.

Korobov, 24, is the current plus/minus leader for the Crunch with a plus-7 rating on the ice with six assists over 13 games.  Signed as a free agent on August 12, 2012 by the Lightning, Korobov has yet to play a professional NHL game for Tampa Bay.

Both players are no doubt recalled due to Steven Stamko’s atrocious leg injury sustained during a road game against the Boston Bruins yesterday, along with defenseman Keith Aulie and Sami Salo, who both left yesterday’s game at TD Garden early due to injury, and leave vacancies on the Lightning bench.

Stamkos is scheduled to undergo surgery in Massachusetts today for his broken right tibia.
