Tampa Bay defenseman Sami Salo practicing; scratch tonight against the Ducks

Here’s a small glimmer of the good stuff to help clear away some of this past week’s gloom:  Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Sami Salo was seen practicing with the team for the first time since his Nov. 11 injury against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

The same infamous game that saw the Lightning lose center Steven Stamkos and defenseman Keith Aulie.

Salo was wearing a red, no-contact jersey, but it’s a good sign to see him out there skating around, being that his defensive acumen will be needed back in the lineup as soon as possible.  Salo has recorded five points over 16 games for the Lighting – scoring one goal and four assists.

Despite the improvement in his status, Salo is still a scratch in tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, which is set to start at 7:30 PM, eastern time, at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

It’s the “Clash of the Conferences” in Tampa Bay, as both teams lead their respective conferences at this time.

The Lightning is looking to snag another two points after defeating the Montreal Canadiens in a 2-1 S/O win Tuesday night, but the Ducks are just as thirsty for two points of their own, as they currently lead the West with 31 points.

Tampa Bay leads the East with 26 points.

Tune in tonight and watch these two great teams do battle for the first time this season.
