Tampa Bay Lightning and the Rollercoaster Weekend

Tomorrow night, the Tampa Bay Lightning embarks on their rollercoaster weekend. During this time, they will open the doors to the Tampa Bay Times Forum to not one, but two different opponents; the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers.

In the first game of their back-to-back, they will come face-to-face with Brian Gionta and the Montreal Canadiens.

This is a very important game for the Lightning. The Canadiens are right there with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Atlantic Division. The Habs are just two points behind the Lightning, and a win over the Lightning could be a game changer for them. Obviously, the Lightning, who is just 3 point behind the Boston Bruins, is going to have to say something about this.

The second challenge they face this weekend is former Lightning center Brad Richards and the New York Rangers.

This will be another important matchup for the boys in blue. The New York Rangers are also an Eastern Conference rival, and we all know that the Divisional points are some of the most important. Honestly, all points are important when you are approaching the halfway point in the season.

If the Lightning wants to continue to climb the ranks, they are going to have to continue to play the way that they have in the past few games. They are going to have to stay strong both on the defense and in net, and they are going to have to take charge offensively, peppering the opposing goaltender with shots.

If they can accomplish this, then I have no doubt in my mind that the Lightning can come out of this weekend with an additional 4 points to their name.

What do you think are going to be the keys to overcoming the odds this weekend? Who do you think is going to be the stand out player of the back-to-back? Sound off in the comments below and let us know what you think.
