Now that the off-season has officially begun all around the National Hockey League, teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning can finally get down to business and start preparing for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Where is the first place you go when you are getting ready for a new season? That’s right ladies and gentlemen, Development Camp.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has officially announced their plans for the 2014 Lightning Development Camp.

This is one of the best parts of the year because not only do the people who make the decisions within the Lightning organization like Head Coach Jon Cooper and Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman get to take a look at the future of our team, but us as fans get to sit back and take it all in while taking a look at the players who could very well take the ice in Lightning blue next season.

All of our favorite prospects will be on hand for the event like our third overall draft pick from last year’s NHL Draft Jonathan Drouin. We’ll also get to see goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis, who you will more than likely remember from his spectacular performance at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia while representing his native Latvia.

As I said before, the event is open to the public and is free of charge. The event will be held from July 2 – July 6 at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon. The camp roster currently consists of 26 players, which consists of 15 forwards, 7 defensemen, and four goaltenders.

Here is a look at the official schedule for the 2014 Lightning Development Camp courtesy of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Official Site.

Some of the talent taking the ice during Development Camp may very well be some of the same players that we see on the ice at the Tampa Bay Times Forum when the Tampa Bay Lightning kick off their 2014-15 season. This is your very first opportunity to see them in action and get acquainted with the future of the organization.

Who would want to miss out on that?
