Tonight is one of the biggest nights of the year in the National Hockey League; other than winning the Stanley Cup that is. In just a few hours, all of the greatest players, coaches, and staff in the National Hockey League will descend upon Sin City for the 2014 NHL Awards.
Tampa Bay Lightning fans have plenty of reasons to be on the edge of their seats tonight.
We here in the Bolts Nation have four people; three players and one incredible coach, nominated for an award tonight.
Lightning rookies Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat have found themselves as finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the “player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition.”
To say that these two Lightning young guns are proficient may just be one of the biggest understatements of the year.
Also nominated for an award tonight is Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper. Coach Cooper was named as one of the finalists for the Jack Adams Award which is awarded to the coach who has “contributed the most to his team’s success.”
Last, but most certainly not least is Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop. Bishop has been named as a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, which as most of you know, is awarded to “the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at his position.”
Which of these Lightning family members will come out on top tonight? I guess we’ll just have to watch and find out.
Here is all the information you’ll need to make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action as the 2014 NHL Awards are handed out tonight.
