The Tampa Bay Lightning quickly returned to their defensive stance in the 2014 NHL Draft as they select defenseman Ben Thomas with their 119th overall pick.
Showing a real dedication to putting together a strong defensive core for the team, Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman has gotten back to picking defensemen in this year’s draft.
After taking a quick break from nabbing quality defensemen like Anthony Deangelo, Dominik Masin, and Johnathan MacLeod, by drafting center Brayden Point from the Moose Jaw Warriors, Yzerman drew another defenseman with the 119th pick; Ben Thomas.
Thomas is a decent sized defenseman that has decent movement in the offensive side of things as well.
As I have said before, with the amount of defensemen that have been added to the organization in this draft, it is going to make Development Camp all that more interesting this year. We have plenty of people within the organization that are willing to fight for their spot on the main roster, and with all these new faces, competition is going to be at an all-time high.
Now that we all know what the latest addition to the Bolts Nation as to offer, fans have taken to places like Twitter to express their reactions to the pick. Let’s take a look at what some of them have to say.
