NHL Draft 2014: Tampa Bay Lightning Selects Cristiano DiGiacinto – Fans React

The Tampa Bay Lightning has taken another break from drafting defensemen. The Lightning has selected left wing Cristiano DiGiacinto of the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League with the 170th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

As most Bolts fans are quite happily aware, Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman has made one heck of a statement by drafting a number of quality defensemen in this year’s draft; however, at the very same time, it never hurts to have a quality goal scorer in your arsenal as well.

As I said before, DiGiancinto has been playing with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. If this team name sounds familiar to you, it should. There is another player in the Lightning’s Developmental System that plays for the Spitfires; defenseman Slater Koekkoek.

While DiGiancinto is not quite yet to what some of us refer to as “Jonathan Drouin” level, he certainly has the potential to develop into something of the like.

Now that Lightning fans have had an opportunity to get to know DiGiacinto, they have taken to places like Twitter to express their reactions to the latest member of the Bolts Nation. Let’s take a look at what some of them have to say.
