Today is a very special day here in the Bolts Nation. Not only are we one day closer to the start of the 2014-15 Tampa Bay Lightning hockey season, but it is someone’s birthday who has been absolutely invaluable to the Lightning. Today, we wish a very happy birthday to center Tyler Johnson.
As I before, with the exception a left wing by the name of Ondrej Palat, Johnson is arguably the most valuable asset that the Tampa Bay Lightning has in their arsenal right now.
Last season, the now 24 year old center suited up for all 82 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In that amount of time, he was able to net 24 goals and 26 assists for a total of 50 points to accompany his whopping plus-23 rating.
This made him 5th on the team in points at the end of the season, only surpassed by the likes of defenseman Victor Hedman, center Valtteri Filppula, left wing Ondrej Palat, and former Lightning captain Martin St. Louis.
Earlier I mentioned a certain left wing by the name of Ondrej Palat. It is almost like these two are the wonder twins. When you put them on the same line, it’s almost as if their wonder twin powers activate and they are one of the strongest and most dangerous lines on the team.
Unfortunately, with what is assumed will be the addition of Jonathan Drouin to the main roster this year, there is a possibility that we will see these two separated on a more permanent basis; however, at this point, that is pure speculation.
In any case, Tyler Johnson is one of the most invaluable assets that the team has right now, and we here at Bolts By The Bay would like to wish the young center a very Happy Birthday!
