Steven Stamkos Will Win the 2015 Hart Trophy

That’s right, you heard it here first. Steven Stamkos will win the 2015 Hart Trophy. I’ll even go as far as saying that if he didn’t break his leg in the 2013-2014 season he would have won it then too. He had 14 goals in 17 games before his injury (on pace for 68 in a full 82 game season) and he had 9 assists to go along with that.

The beloved Tampa sniper has already had seasons where he has scored 50 and 60 goals respectively and he is still a young player at age 24.

The best part for Lightning fans everywhere is that the best is still to come for their superstar and the team itself. Stamkos has put up stellar numbers with weak teams. This years 2014-2015 Lightning team is the best team they have had on paper in probably a decade.

I would assume that during some point this season Stamkos would be paired with assist machine Jonathan Drouin who’s style of play would compliment Stamkos perfectly. I could honestly see the duo of Stamkos and Drouin become the best in the NHL for years to come.

I see no reason why Stamkos can’t score 50+ goals next season. I also see no reason why the Lightning won’t make the playoffs again which is the main reason he didn’t receive the award for his 60 goal season in 2012.

Stamkos will be entering his first full season as captain of the Lightning and now is his time to show that it is his team. He will get that chance when he reinforces that he is one of the best players in the sport and ultimately takes home the Hart Trophy at the season’s end.
