As anyone here in the Bolts Nation knows, this is not the only thing going on in Tampa Bay today. Today is the one day a year when the pirates come ashore to pillage and plunder the City of Tampa, the annual Gasparilla celebration.

Well, we all know how involved the Tampa Bay Lightning organization is within the Tampa Bay community. Of course, they had to take part in the festivities. In addition to making their presence known at the Gasparilla parade, they also found a way to meld these two worlds into one pretty incredible video.

As you can imagine, this Gasparilla-themed video aired tonight at the Amalie Arena before the Lightning took the ice to electrify (and plunder) the Columbus Blue Jackets.

When the video kicks off, we hear the rush of the waves and the drum of the oncoming storm. From there, we get a view of a well-weathered pirate ship coming upon the shore. It isn’t long before a somber voice begins to sing of an onslaught.

Visions of players like captain Steven Stamkos and center Tyler Johnson make their way onto the screen, setting the tone for the remainder of the video. We must say that the imagery and the music really get us in the mood to watch the Bolts head into battle and do their best to pillage and plunder the competition.

Ok, so Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Drouin and the rest of the Tampa Bay Lightning are probably not going to be donning any pirate gear anytime soon; however, we will openly admit that we would pay good money to see it; however, they do have everything they need to pillage and plunder the Columbus Blue Jackets.

If they continue to play the way that they have through the two and a half periods they have played thus far, there is no reason that they can’t seal the deal and bring their pirate booty (otherwise known as two points) home and allow them to reclaim their spot at the Top of the Eastern Conference.
