Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop will never be missed again as he prepares to unveil a TRON-inspired, glow-in-the-dark goalie mask.

Just when you thought Ben Bishop’s goaltending masks couldn’t get any cooler, he just has to go and prove us all very wrong. That’s right ladies and gentlemen…Ben Bishop is about to unveil one of the coolest goaltender masks we have seen in quite a while; especially if you are a sci-fi fan.

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop is about to unveil a glow-in-the-dark (yes…glow-in-the-dark) goalie mask with a design inspired by the Walt Disney films Tron and more specifically Tron: Legacy.

The goalie mask was created by artist David Gunnarsson of DAVEART. If you have ever seen a goaltender with an incredible looking mask, there is a good chance that you know where said player got it from.

You think we’re kidding, check out his gallery. (After checking out Bishop’s new mask, that is.)

The mask itself is fairly simple. Aside from various shades, the mask is black, blue, and white with the Lightning logo on both sides of the helmet. The markings on the helmet were inspired by the tracking left behind by one of the Light Cycles from the film. The throat guard has Ben Bishop’s number 30 emblazoned on it.

DAVEART has named the design “Tampa Legacy.”

According to Puck Daddy’s Greg Wyshynski, the paint is really what sets this mask apart from everything else. A special paint called DAVEART G.L.O.W. Tech FX that gives the mask its lightning glow. The mask also has “all the other DAVEART Trademark Super FX´s, such as Hologram FX.”

We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see what this mask looks like up close and personal tomorrow night when the Tampa Bay Lightning return to the Amalie Arena, fresh off of their successful West Coast Road Trip, to do battle with captain Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks in front of the sold-out hometown crowd.

The mask look cool enough as it is when the lights are shining down upon the ice, but just imagine how amazing it will look during the player introductions, the National Anthem, and any other time during the game when the lights are lowered.

On the bright side, should the power ever go out in the Amalie Arena (hockey gods forbid) at least we know that Ben Bishop will be able to lead everyone to safety.
