Today is the last full day that the Tampa Bay Lightning has to prepare before they lace up their skates and take on the Chicago Blackhawks. Here’s a look at some of the headlines making their way around today.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has a tough road in front of them in the coming days. Tomorrow night, the Lightning will have to lace up their skates and hit the ice at the Amalie Arena to face captain Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Despite the fact that the Hawks will be flying into Tampa Bay without the company of their top scorer Patrick Kane thanks to an injury sustained at the hands of Florida Panthers defenseman Alex Petrovic on Monday night, they are still going to be solid opponents for the Bolts.

As you know, despite the fact that there is no game tonight, there is still plenty of topics happening not only here in the Bolts Nation, but around the rest of the National Hockey League as well.

So, once you’ve had an opportunity to nab your breakfast and get yourself your daily dose of get up and go, let’s take a look at some of today’s top headlines.

We just recently celebrated one of the most exciting days in the world of hockey. Sunday, February 22nd was the 15th Anniversary of the Miracle on Ice when the United States defeated the then Soviet Union at the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid. It seems as if things just keep getting worse and worse for the Chicago Blackhawks. Most of you have heard by now about the incident that happened on Tuesday night that resulted in the Blackhawks leading goal scorer Patrick Kane leaving in the first period. It turns out that things were worse than initially anticipated. Kane had surgery yesterday to repair a broken left clavicle and will miss 12 weeks. [NHL]

As the NHL Trade Deadline quickly approaches, we are seeing more and more teams make their move and start to snatch up the pieces they feel they need to either rebuild their team or prepare for a deep run in the playoffs. One of the teams making moves today is the Carolina Hurricanes. They have traded left wing Jiri Tlusty to the Winnipeg Jets for a Third Round Pick in the 2016 NHL Draft and a conditional Sixth Round Pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. [Cardiac Cane]

Sometimes when a player, or more specifically a goaltender get hot, the coach becomes of the mind “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.” This has seemingly become the case in Beantown with goaltender Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins. Rask has played in 27 of the last 28 games the Bruins have played. This has caused some people to wonder if the Bruins are about to burn out their top netminder. [Causeway Crowd]

When it comes to the current state of hockey, it seems as if it is all becoming very black and white. Rules are rules and that is the end of the story. This leaves very little room for any sort of creativity and straying away from the old time hockey people fell in love with. Cassie McClellan takes a long, hard look at the lack of creativity in the NHL and how is directly affects the Tampa Bay Lightning. [Raw Charge]

As we said before, the Tampa Bay Lightning will lace up their skates tomorrow and charge into the Amalie Arena in the hopes of taking down the Chicago Blackhawks in front of the sold out hometown crowd.

It would be safe to say that we will have plenty of new topics to discuss tomorrow morning, so don’t forget to check back with us here at Bolts By The Bay and see what’s going on here in Hockey Paradise and around the National Hockey League.
