The Tampa Bay Lightning prepare to play the third game of their six game home stand tonight against the Detroit Red Wings as we take a look at some of the top headlines in the NHL today.

The Tampa Bay Lightning seems to be having a pretty excellent day. As they prepare to take on their Atlantic Division rivals the Detroit Red Wings at the Amalie Arena tonight, they find out that left wing Ondrej Palat has been cleared to return to the Lightning lineup.

As you can imagine, this caused a little moving and shaking in the lineup that resulted in left wing Mike Angelidis being reassigned to the Syracuse Crunch. As much as we hate to see Angelidis go, the laws of equivalent exchange still apply.

Now that there is only eleven more games this season of the Tampa Bay Lightning, including tonight’s game against the Red Wings, the need to bring home the two points in very encounter becomes even more important than it has all season long.

In order for this to happen, the Tampa Bay Lightning is going to have to continue to work together as a team and they are going to have to be aggressive with the puck, physical on both the offensive and defensive side of things, and are going to have to maintain their focus for a full sixty minutes of hockey.

The good news is that we all know that the Tampa Bay Lightning has what they need in order to do this. As the old saying goes, “there’s nothing to it, but to do it.”

While we wait for all of the action to kick up tonight between the Lightning and the Red Wings at the Amalie Arena, let’s take a look at some of the top headlines around the National Hockey League today.

After the Lightning left the ice at this morning’s skate, Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper took the podium to answer questions from the media about the status of some of the Lightning’s players to his strategy for tonight’s matchup with the Detroit Red Wings. Cooper spoke about the return of Ondrej Palat, the status of Cedric Paquette, and the essentialness of Victor Hedman among other things. [Tampa Bay Lightning]

As we mentioned previously, with Lightning left wing Ondrej Palat returning to action tonight as the Lightning take on the Red Wings, the Lightning’s lineup was in need of some editing. This resulted in Syracuse Crunch captain Mike Angelidis being reassigned to the Crunch. [Syracuse Crunch]

When former Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Anders Lindback was traded to the Buffalo Sabres from the Dallas Stars, the jokes almost wrote themselves. What would seem like one of the league’s worst goaltenders making the jump to the worst team in the NHL. Unfortunately for the Sabres, since being there he has been anything but bad. Under normal circumstances this would be a giant win for a struggling team like the Sabres, but it could put a kink in their bid to acquire Connor McDavid at the 2015 NHL Draft. [Puck Daddy]

The Tampa Bay Lightning are set to play the Boston Bruins this Sunday at the Amalie Arena in what will be the third time this season. There is no denying that the Bruins have somehow had our number all season long, and from the looks of things, this Sunday’s match up won’t be any easier. The Bruins have already played 12 games without the help of David Krejci, who has been recovering from a partially-torn MCL; however, there is a possibility that he could be ready to return to the ice as early as this weekend. One of the things that Tampa Bay Lightning season ticket members have been discussing for quite some time now are the frequent, and sometime large, increases in ticket prices from year to year. While the Lightning still remain one of the cheapest tickets in the National Hockey League, that doesn’t make our wallets feel any better. The one thing you should know is that we are not alone in the struggle. Before you complain about that terrace level side seat going for no less than $30 per game, take a look at how badly the wallets of Chicago Blackhawks fans are being nailed this season. It won’t be long now before the puck drops at the Amalie Arena and the Tampa Bay Lightning are embroiled in what could be a preview of the upcoming post season as they take on the Detroit Red Wings. The most important question now is are you ready to Be The Thunder?
