What Song Gets Tampa Bay Lightning Fans Charged Up On Game Day?
What song really gets Tampa Bay Lightning fans charged up and ready to go when game time finally rolls around?
There is no denying that music is one of the simplest forms of expression; especially when it comes to the topic of human emotion. On game day, that emotion somehow morphs into adrenaline which allows Tampa Bay Lightning fans to scream and shout at the top of their lungs for our boys in blue.
As you can imagine, one of the easiest ways to get that emotion to transfer into adrenaline is to listen to a particular song or artist that fulfills a very simple needs.
This song or artist will need to be able to stir your emotions in either a positive or negative manner (depending on your point of view) and will need to spark images of the thing in which you’re trying to get excited over, which in this case is a Tampa Bay Lightning game day.
Now, most fans here in the Bolts Nation have a couple of go-to songs, most of which are played during either the pre-game or the introduction to the night’s event. One of the most recognizable is the classic AC/DC song “Thunderstruck.”
Anyone who has ever been to a Tampa Bay Lightning home game at the Amalie Arena has heard this song at least once. In most cases it is when the Lightning dream kid takes the ice with his mighty blue stick. When you hear the thunder boom and the teslas light up you can’t help but scream and cheer.
Another song that Lightning fans have been hearing a lot of lately is the song “Come With Me Now” by a South African alternative rock band named Kongos. This addicting song is normally played as the Lightning players are taking the ice right before the starting lineup is announced.
While I will admit that each of the aforementioned songs does get us moving and ready for the action to start, there is another song that doesn’t get quite the same amount of attention as the others, but – at least for us – is a must listen before any Tampa Bay Lightning game; especially the ones here at Amalie Arena.
The song is titled “Stand” and it is from an Oklahoma City based group by the name of Aranda. Not only is the beat uplifting and perfect for getting the blood pumping, but the words fit perfectly into everything I am thinking about when I am heading into a game; the physicality of dropping the gloves, as well as the determination to never give up in the face of adversity.
Why don’t you check it out for yourselves?
Now that you have had an opportunity to listen to the song, and really listen to the words, what do you see in your head when you listen to it?
We don’t know about you, but we can see Sunday night against the Boston Bruins when Lightning captain Steven Stamkos dropped the gloves on Brad Marchand. We can also see players like Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat, or Nikita Kucherov sinking the puck in the back of the net.
This is just our personal opinion, but this song would serve the team really well as one of the pre-game rituals; especially with the post season quickly upon us and the Tampa Bay Lightning’s never-ending desire to overcome adversity and come out on top in all situations.
So…what song/artist gets you ready to Be The Thunder? Is it one of the aforementioned songs, or is there something else that gets your adrenaline flowing and ready to scream and shout for our Tampa Bay Lightning? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
