As the Tampa Bay Lightning prepare to take on the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 of the Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we take a look at the Top Headlines around the National Hockey League.

The Tampa Bay Lightning definitely started out this series on the right foot with a 2-1 double overtime win over the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Now, the Lightning look to do it all over again as they head back into the Bell Centre for Game 2 tonight.

The unfortunate part of last night’s win is the circumstances in which it was obtained. The only thing the mainstream media seemed to want to concentrate on is the “questionable” goal that sealed the deal thanks to a missed offside call. If you want to know our feelings on this one, you can check out our little rant right here.

In any case, the Tampa Bay Lightning has much more important things to worry about today. As we mentioned before, they will have to head back into the Bell Centre and take on the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 of the series. Judging by what we saw in Game 1, this is going to be quite an interesting series.

While we wait for all the action to kick off tonight, let’s take a look at some of the Top Headlines, not only here in the Bolts Nation, but around the remainder of the National Hockey League as well.

As we mentioned before, the Tampa Bay Lightning pulled out a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens in what turned out to be a Double Overtime thrill ride. Now that we’ve had a moment to take everything in and take a look at last night’s action, the Lightning has put together an infographic breaking down the action. [Tampa Bay Lightning]

While the Tampa Bay Lightning were doing battle with the Detroit Red Wings in Game 7, the Syracuse Crunch were in a do-or-die situation of their own as they faced off with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup Playoffs. Unfortunately, things did not turn out as well for the Crunch as they did for the Lightning. [Syracuse Crunch]

There is no denying that Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop is one of the main factors that kept the Lightning in the game on Friday night at the Bell Centre. While he may have seen at least one blunder in the encounter, Bishop most definitely came up big when it mattered the most. Thankfully, Bishop was able to take his momentary blunder in stride. One of the topics that has been making its way around the Bolts Nation is the unexplainable drought that Lightning captain Steven Stamkos has been experiencing lately. Throughout the regular season there was only one player in the National Hockey League that had more scoring power than him, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin. Unfortunately, in the post season he has come up shorter than he ever has before. [NHL.com]

It appears as if Tyler Johnson is not the only one who is feeling a little beat up in the early moments of the Second Round of the 2014-15 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle took a massive hit from behind at the hands of Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom. Thankfully, Boyle wasn’t too severely injured as he was able to play in Game 2 with the Rangers on Saturday night, even scoring a goal in the encounter. [Too Many Men on the Site]

There is still a lot of hockey to be had in this Round 2 series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens. The one thing that the Lightning needs to continue to remember is that the regular season is behind us and the post season is a whole new animal.

The Canadiens want to continue into the next round as much as the Bolts do, and this is going to lead to an intense battle between these two Eastern Conference rivals. The puck will drop in just a few more hours at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Are you ready to Be The Thunder once again in tonight’s early encounter?
