Tampa Bay Lightning Twitter Tuesday: Steven Stamkos Offseason Training, Sonya Recognizes BBTB, And More

Much has been going on in the Twitter world, and many of these things involve your Tampa Bay Lightning in some way.

When it comes to social media, Twitter for me reigns as it’s king. A world where you have 140 characters to make your point. Many people use this to put their opinions out there while others use the site to help spread their business or whatever activity they are into to the sites 316 million active monthly users. I personally use the site for both spreading the word about my content here at Bolts By The Bay and stating my own personal opinion about events (mainly in the world of sports).

The Tampa Bay Lightning and most of its current and former players have accounts on the site, and many interesting things come from these accounts that you wouldn’t know about them otherwise. Whether it be sharing a photo about a recent vacation or in the locker room, these tweets can help us fans get to know our favorite players on more of a personal level.

Speaking of the offseason, Lightning captain Steven Stamkos has once again spent a majority of his summer with former teammate Garry Roberts at the Gary Roberts High Performance Training Center in Toronto, ON, Canada. Mr. Roberts sent out a tweet of Stammer during one of his training sessions.

As Roberts says in the tweet, it seems like prep week has begun. I personally have no idea what that means, but if I had to guess it may be the final week of off ice training before these players get ready for training camp. It seems like the Lightning captain is hard at work gaining strength and helping is body recover from what was an extremely long year, but Stamkos should be ready to go and come our firing when the Lightning begin the regular season on October 8th against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Many of you may have read our article about Tampa Bay Lightning anthem singer Sonya Bryson and her recent retirement from the United States Air Force. Well, turns out Sonya was one of those readers. She sent out this tweet and linked our article inside of it.

That is pretty cool if I do say so myself. As we pointed out in the article, Sonya has done a fantastic job when it comes to singing our national anthem, and Tampa Bay Lightning fans cannot get enough of it. We are glad that Sonya is getting opportunities elsewhere to show off her talent, but when asked about her future wardrobe when singing the anthem, Sonya had this to say.

As most of you know, Sonya sported her United States Air Force uniform every time she took the mic and sang the national anthem. Now that she is retired, she will need to find something else to wear while on the ice. I think a Tampa Bay Lightning uniform is a good choice.

We all know Tyler Johnson and his connection to the state of Washington. The Spokane born Johnson has is a fan of the in-state NHL team Seattle Seahawks. Tyler recently took a trip to Seattle and decided to see his beloved Seahawks play in person at CenturyLink Field.

If you follow the National Football League, then you know the Seattle Seahawks have had a recent run of dominance. They have made it to the SuperBowl in back-to-back seasons winning once and losing another to the New England Patriots last season. I am sure Tyler wasn’t too happy with the play calling (give Marshawn Lynch the ball) but I think he will take the one Super Bowl championship. Oh, and he also seemed to make some new friends along the way.

10/10 rating on the dudes haircut. It seemed like Tyler had a great time watching his Seahawks play and he will soon be heading to Tampa just like the rest of his teammates in preparation for training camp and the 2015-16 season.

We hope you enjoyed this weeks version of Twitter Tuesday! Make sure you follow Garry Roberts, Sonya Bryson, and the rest of your Tampa Bay Lightning players on Twitter when you have the chance. While you’re at it, give us a follow @BoltsByTheBay and follow me on my personal account @K_Barber9.
