Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Erik Condra scores his first goal as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning to give the Bolts the lead in the second period.

The Tampa Bay Lightning started off their season right on Thursday night as they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 after an exciting 3-on-3 overtime period. Today, the Lightning head into the First Niagara Center in the hopes of keeping their momentum rolling against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Lightning made very few moves in the off-season, but the moves Tampa Bay Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman made are already starting to have an impact on the Lightning’s performance in the 2015-16 season. One of the very first moves Yzerman made was to sign Free Agent right wing Erik Condra to a three-year contract.

Today, as the Lightning charge into the First Niagara Center, Condra plays in his second game in the Tampa Bay Lightning jersey. Thankfully for Bolts fans, it didn’t take very long at all for Condra to build some chemistry with his teammates and start making an impact.

After a scoreless first period, the Tampa Bay Lightning were looking to break the ice in the second period. Just before the halfway point in the period, the Tampa Bay Lightning would achieve their goal. Erik Condra gets his stick on the puck just outside of the faceoff and fires a rocket from the blue line. The rest, as you would say, history.

"Did Filppula get a stick on it? The @TBLightning and @BuffaloSabres are tied 1-1. #TBLvsBUF #NHLFaceOff https://t.co/aLLkSKYxjX— NHL (@NHL) October 10, 2015"

Erik Condra helps illustrate one of the points we have been making for many seasons. The Tampa Bay Lightning need to stop hesitating and take more shots from the blue line. This is the same philosophy that help Jason Garrison used in to score the first goal for the Tampa Bay Lightning in Thursday night’s Home Opener against the Philadelphia Flyers.

If the Tampa Bay Lightning continue on the path their on in conjunction with picking up the pace on the Power Play, the Lightning could be one of the most dominant teams in the NHL this season. There is still plenty of hockey to play from Buffalo today. Stay tuned in here at Bolts By The Bay as we bring you all the latest news, updates, and game day goodness you can possibly handle.
